Plus, the entire Justice League, which includes those four iconic heroes plus others like Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Hawkman, are featured in a full-length story created in a traditional comics format. Also included are several pages of promotional art, preliminary art and thumbnails sketches, art done for DC Direct product, model-to-finished-painting comparisons, and reflections by the book’s creators. And if that were not enough, this landmark volume also features an introduction by noted book designer and author Chip Kidd, a new painted cover by Alex Ross, and an 8-page foldout of the Jla: Liberty and Justice poster featuring every member of the JLA by Ross.

The original members of the classic Justice League are back in an original graphic novel. The JLA is used to dealing with threats from outer space, but the one they’re faced with in this case isn’t something they can fight head-on. The JLA must confront a threat from space in the form of a deadly space-borne virus that sets off a chain reaction of worldwide fear and panic. A virus of some kind, spreads from a meteor that struck near a small village in Africa, incredibly virulent, and with no apparent cause or cure. The JLA has to contain the threat, quarantine the area, search for a cure, and deal with the panic and unrest the news of the virus causes. But soon the JLA itself is under suspicion. Are they ultimately responsible for this alien danger? Can the JLA keep the world from tearing itself when resentment and fear arise by their very attempts to help. Such a task would strain the resources of any roster, but fortunately the JLA has some of the most powerful and well-respected members the world has ever seen.
