Clash of the Titans is a 1981 fantasy adventure film directed by Desmond Davis and written by Beverley Cross which is loosely based on the Greek myth of Perseus. It stars Harry Hamlin, Judi Bowker, Burgess Meredith, Maggie Smith and Laurence Olivier. The film features the final work of stop-motion visual effects artist Ray Harryhausen. The 3D remake Clash of the Titans (2010) and its sequel Wrath of the Titans (2012) continued the adventures of Perseus. The Wrath of the Titans (2012) action fantasy film was directed by Jonathan Liebesman from a screenplay by Dan Mazeau & David Leslie Johnson from a story by Dan Mazeau, David Leslie, & Greg Berlanti. The movie starred Sam Worthington, Rosamund Pike, Bill Nighy, Édgar Ramírez, Toby Kebbell, Danny Huston, Ralph Fiennes, and Liam Neeson. The Wrath of the Titans movie takes place a decade after the events of the preceding film as the Gods lose control over the imprisoned Titans (thanks to humanity’s lack of prayers which also is draining their immortality) and Perseus is called, this time to rescue his father Zeus, overthrow the Titans, and save mankind.
Inspired by Ray Harryhausen’s beloved masterwork, Clash of the Titans (1981 Movie). This four-issue comic book miniseries Wrath of the Titans (Bluewater Comics 2007), released as part of their Ray Harryhausen Signature Series, picks up the story 5 years after the events of the 1981 film.
Now Bluewater Comics presents, “Wrath of the Titans”, One of the great heroes of Greek mythology, Perseus rules the kingdom of Argos with his beloved wife by his side. Whether defeating the hydra or riding across the skies on Pegasus, he is a figure of power and might. When a new prince is born, the people and gods alike seem to rejoice. But not all the immortals are pleased by Perseus’ exploits and evil forces plot from the shadows.
Stories/Spoilers
In issue #1A, Five years have passed since the legendary Perseus defeated the evil Gorgon Medusa, killed the Kraken and assumed the crown of Argos. Things seemed idyllic throughout the kingdom and the news of an heir put the citizens in a celebratory mood. Yet lurking in the shadows is the one being in Argos simmering with hate and discontent. Calibus, once though dead, was let out of the Underworld by Hades and looks to take his revenge on the Pretender and his family. Perseus stole his bride, stole his position, stole Zeus’ favor, stole his life and now Calibus looks to take it all back. And with the news that a baby boy was born to Perseus and Andromeda, he is chilling that dish of revenge…
Next in issue #2A, The illusion of peace is destroyed one seemingly regular morning when Perseus’ son is stolen from him. In a fit of rage, Perseus demands an audience with Zeus. His request is denied and he is left with only a vague clue to seek out his half-brother. Gathering a small party of trusted comrades, Perseus sets out to consult the Stygian Witches, who possess an All-Seeing Eye. They demand of him the Horn of the Cyclops in exchange for information regarding the whereabouts of his son. Summoning his faithful steed Pegasus, Perseus flies to Mt. Aetna to track down the Cyclops…
Next in issue #3A, As the gods conspire against him, Perseus’ quest to recover his beloved son and heir to the throne of Argos is thrown into peril. From the volcanic depths of Mt. Aetna, the whirlwinds blow one of the fiercest demons into his path – Typhon – whose hundred, horrible heads touch the stars; whose blackest eyes drip venom; whose gaping jaws pour lava and red-hot stones. Perseus may be the son of Zeus, but he will need more than the blessings of Olympus to defeat this monster. But help does come from an unexpected source from the past.
Finally in issue #4, Perseus comes face to face with his greatest challenge ever – and the life of his infant son, and every other life in the kingdom of Argos, is at stake! Have the gods abandoned Perseus in his hour of need? For the first time without divine aid, Perseus must make his stand, prove his mettle, and confront the surprising twists that await. Although his heroic stature in the annals of legend is secure, his destiny and his legacy may be in doubt.
