Description

X-Files: Volume 2                           Trade Paperback
Based on The X-Files created by: Chris Carter

The X-Files is an American science fiction drama television series created by Chris Carter. The original television series aired from September 10, 1993, to May 19, 2002, on Fox. The program spanned nine seasons, with 202 episodes. A short tenth season consisting of six episodes premiered on January 24, 2016. Following the ratings success of this revival, Fox announced in April 2017 that The X-Files would be returning for an eleventh season of ten episodes. The season premiered on January 3, 2018. In addition to the television series, two feature films have been released: The 1998 film The X-Files, which took place as part of the TV series continuity, and the stand-alone film The X-Files: I Want to Believe, released in 2008, six years after the original television run had ended. The series revolves around Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) who investigate X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder believes in the existence of aliens and the paranormal while Scully, a medical doctor and a skeptic, is assigned to make scientific analyses of Mulder’s discoveries.

Checker’s second volume of the X-Files collects issues 18-23 (five original stories) & 24, as well as the X-Files #1/2 (1996) Wizard Special Mail Order Comic, and X-Files Comic Digest Issue 1. Featuring writers Keven J. Anderson and John Rozum, interior art by Charles Adlard, and additional art created by world-renowned artist Miran Kim. This collection is a must-have for any X-Files fan.

X-Files: Volume 2 contains:
The X-Files Issues #18-24 – 1996
Writers: John Rozum & Kevin J. Anderson
Artists: Charles Adlard, Gordon Purcell, Josef Rubinstein & Miran Kim

In part #1, “Night Lights, Part One”, Mulder and Scully are called in when a group of scientists investigating the phenomenon of ball lightening disappear. While they investigate, another duo examining the groups data are attacked by a strange force. Arriving at the scene, the FBI agents are investigating when the strange energy comes searching for them as well.

Next in part #2, “Night Lights, Part Two”, The strange atmospheric phenomenon in North Carolina continues to frustrate Scully and Mulder. They do have a plan though. Mulder theorizes that it might actually be a living being with thoughts and feelings. Now they just have to come up with a way to capture it. All the while frustrating those people that just want to kill it.

Next in part #3, “Family Portraits, Part One”, A demonic “vampire” camera literally sucks the life out of its victims (those having their picture taken) so that the picture taker can live forever…

Next in part #4, “Family Portraits, Part Two” After investigating, it seems that the legend is true… cameras can steal souls.

Next in part #5, “The Kanashibari”, Someone, or something is killing students at a Hawaii university. Mulder has some thoughts about a choking ghost but Scully has other suspects. When they find out the full story behind the killings, will it clear everything up? Or make it even cloudier?

Next in part #6, “Donor”, Have you signed your organ donor card? If you haven’t, how would you feel if your spouse decided to donate your organs after you died? Hopefully not like the man Mulder and Scully are chasing. He seems intent on retrieving his organs from their recipients.

Finally in part #7, “Silver Lining”, A man disfigured in a car accident finds a coat with a special lining. It can drain the life from others and use it to repair his damaged face. Can Scully and Mulder find him and stop him before his transformation is complete and he disappears?

Scully, however, thinks the man’s mother is on a vendetta. Featuring a monster created in response to a horrific incident into which a person can channel all their hatred and anger; eventually taking on a monstrous life of its own. The monster in question is a tulpa, a creature drawn from Tibetian folklore.

X-Files Comics Digest (1995) #1
Writer: Stefan Petrucha
Artist: Charles Adlard

In “Big Foot, Warm Heart”, You would think that the search for Bigfoot would be right up Mulders alley. However there has never been a case to warrant making it an X-File. Until now. An FBI agent has gone missing and evidence seems to point to his being abducted by Bigfoot. Scully and Mulders investigation may be seriously hampered by millionaire Ben McCaslin, a rich man who fancies himself a big game hunter. With his resources, it just may be possible for him to capture a sasquatch. And an FBI agent?
