Featuring Space Vampires!  Awesome!!
Writers: Steve Niles & Dan Wickline
Artist: Milx
Letterer: Tom B. Long
Editor: Dan Taylor
All Covers by: Milx

After a self-imposed hiatus following the tragic events of the last shuttle mission, NASA prepares to launch the Icarus on a simple mission to help restore the nation’s confidence in the space program. But their worst fears are realized when it’s discovered that something has gotten aboard the shuttle, something ferocious, something with fangs and a taste for blood. The critically acclaimed horror series continues as creator Steve Niles teams with writer Dan Wickline (Blood-Stained Sword) and artist/painter Milx to bring you this vicious tale of deep space death and destruction.

Story/Spoilers
In issue #1, After a tragedy that befell the crew of the last shuttle launch, the American people began doubting the need for a space program and the government found it harder to justify the program’s enormous budget in the face of a growing deficit. The heads of the space program knew that their next flight had to be perfect, or it would be their last. A self-imposed hiatus allowed every aspect of the shuttle program to be refined and improved; the best possible crew was assembled, and safety became the number one priority. As the mission approached, the heads of the program were certain that every logical possibility had been planned for…

Next in issue #2, Still reeling from the previous shuttle tragedy and under extreme pressure from both the general public and government factions, the space program launched its first space shuttle mission in over two years. With nothing more than an apparent suit malfunction, the Icarus successfully left the launch pad and headed for space. But just after leaving the Earth’s atmosphere, something went horribly wrong. Commander James Cobb began attacking his crew-their dying cries being transmitted back to Mission Control. Moments later their sensors detected an explosion aboard the shuttle and all communications ceased. The Icarus was gone.

Finally in issue #3, With the loss of the Icarus, the heads of the space program met to discuss what could have caused the explosion. A variety of possibilities emerged, ranging from a fuel leak to a crewmember going insane; the most farfetched being a vampire had gotten abord the shuttle. In response to the public’s cry for answers, another shuttle was launched to investigate the wreckage and to recover the flight recorder. Commander Cory Locke and the crew of the Armstrong discovered more than just the black box-they found the intact body of Commander James Cobb. Tue Armstrong was then ordered to dock with the Orbiter space station to perform an autopsy… that’s when things turned ugly.
